For the last 8 months (since November of 2009), Google has been spoke about the new search engine algorithm known as “Google Caffeine”. For months everyone in the search engine optimization industry and world has had theories of what will change (although Google has given hints in the past) but we all still were holding our breaths to an extent. Well, on June 8, 2010 Google finally announced that the Google Caffeine update is 100% active!
After reading the vague post on the official Google blog with this announcement, it seems that none of us will really know the long term impact of the new Google update and what exactly has changed. I suspect, that really it will take many months, case studies and documentation from many SEO people that can try to interpret and analyze what the specific changes are and what is less/more important from and SEO perspective.
Personally, I think it will be important to keep me eye on the pulse of what might have changed, but at the same time, I don’t think that it is anything major (or at least we can see from a visitor perspective), but it is truly more back end and how Google now processes all of the billions of web pages, videos, blog posts, images, live social aspects, etc. I am not planning to worry, but will continue (and for all of my clients) stay on course with good clean on site optimization and helping client building relevant links, brands and visitors. As long as Google’s webmaster guidelines don’t change then I think things (from my perspective as an SEO professional) will remain the same. Although, I am excited to read and see all of the great case studies from other folks out there too!
